Although this post is not wedding related, it should bring all you green Seattle brides a sense of pride for your city and its citizens. This past spring a group of students from Ballard high school won the award for the Best Global Impact from Washington State University for their innovative hydroponic project titled "Image Tomorrow". (Hydroponics is a type of farming that actually doesn't require soil. It is a highly efficient way of farming produce as it uses less water, less space and actually produces more plants than conventional farming). These Ballard students built a model vertical farm (pictured below) using filtered rainwater (we all know Seattle has plenty of this) and beat their competition by taking an innovative approach to farming and global warming. You can read more about it here but we just wanted to say congratulations to Scott Mills, Amelia Slick, Elise LaRussa and Mareya Welsh! We love hearing about the success and innovation of Seattle's citizens!
